Feedback Forward
Feedback Forward is built by Opportunity Education, a nonprofit founded by Joe Ricketts in 2005. For more than 20 years, across research, schools, and educational programs in the U.S. and Tanzania, we’ve pursued one mission: supporting educators to help every student own their learning. Feedback Forward grew out of that work.

Exit Ticket Transformation
Feedback Forward started with a problem in our four U.S. schools. We knew engaged students learn better, but teachers had no consistent way to measure engagement or structure for students to reflect on their own engagement.
In 2024, we built Feedback Forward to turn that reflection into a simple daily routine. We paired student-reported engagement with mastery questions, combining two things teachers need to understand: what are students learning and how are they showing up in class?
The end of class became a natural moment for both, and so, we transformed the traditional exit ticket. Practiced daily, a Feedback Forward exit ticket becomes more than a check for understanding. It builds a habit of reflecting on engagement for students and creates a steady feedback loop that shows teachers what students need next.
Built for Our Schools First
Feedback Forward was developed in partnership with school leaders, teachers, and students at our four U.S. schools. Every update or new feature was designed to solve real needs and tested in real classrooms.
Today, Feedback Forward is part of every class, every day in our schools. Last year, our students submitted more than 200,000 exit tickets, helping teachers track both what students are learning and how they are engaging in the process.
